The first day of summer means something different in our industry

The first day of summer means something different in our industry.

For many families, it’s the start of vacations, cookouts, weekends at the beach, and time away from work.

For others, it’s a season of early mornings, long days, emergency callouts, and plans that sometimes change with a single phone call.

Across the utility industry, there are men and women who leave family gatherings, postpone vacations, miss birthdays, and answer the call when communities need them most.

They do it when storms knock out power.

They do it when infrastructure needs repaired.

They do it because someone has to.

It’s not always convenient.

It’s not always easy.

But restoring power, rebuilding infrastructure, and keeping communities connected has never been about convenience.

It’s about responsibility.

So as summer officially begins, we’d like to recognize the crews, operators, linemen, locators, technicians, mechanics, supervisors, and support teams who keep showing up when others are heading out.

The work isn’t always visible.

The sacrifices usually aren’t either.

But they’re appreciated.

Because when communities need us most, showing up isn’t optional, it’s what we do.

We’ve got this.
