Empowering the Next Generation: Girl Power North Carolina Hosts First Event at Caldwell Community College, Introducing Young Women to Careers in Utilities and Infrastructure

Girl Power North Carolina successfully hosted its first event at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, welcoming over 47 students for an inspiring and educational experience. The event introduced participants to careers in the utility and infrastructure industries, featuring hands-on learning about overhead and underground power distribution, fiber operations, substation processes, and drone technology.

Brian Morehouse of S&N expressed his excitement about the event’s success and the opportunity to collaborate with local utility partners. ‘This initiative empowers young women with knowledge and exposure to career paths they may not have considered before. We’re looking forward to expanding this program and strengthening industry partnerships in the future.

With support from their partners, students also had the chance to compete for scholarships, reinforcing the program’s commitment to education and workforce development. Girl Power North Carolina is proud to be shaping the future of the industry, one student at a time.

Special thanks to our team for introducing the young women to our field and future career opportunities. To name a few: Brian Morehouse, Joy Yount, Andy Gibson, Jade Townsend, Todd Butcher, Chessa Trimble, Ewell Lester and Michael Scales. Well done.
